Aliero, Kebbi State November 22, 2025
The Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology (AFUSTA), Aliero, has announced an immediate closure of the institution amid rising security concerns. In a memo signed by Registrar Alhaji Maimaro Tilli, under the directive of the Vice-Chancellor, all academic activities have been suspended until further notice.
The shutdown affects the entire university community, including staff, postgraduate students, undergraduates, diploma, remedial, and IJMB students. The notice instructed everyone to vacate the campus within one hour of the announcement. Security personnel have been ordered to enforce the directive, removing any students found in hostels or other campus areas.
Students residing off-campus, such as those in Gidan Rami, were also advised to leave their dwellings to avoid potential confrontation with security teams. The university did not specify the exact security threat but indicated that the decision aligns with measures taken across northern Nigerian schools due to growing insecurity.
The closure will remain in effect until a new notice is issued. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
