Kwara SWAN Holds Personality Lecture in Honour of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

As part of its end-of the year activities, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, has concluded plans to host the maiden edition of its Personality Lecture in honour of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON.

The lecture will hold on Thursday, 18th December 2025, at the Taiwo Awoniyi Media Sports Centre, SWAN Secretariat, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin, starting at 10:00 a.m. prompt.

This inaugural edition is themed: “6 Years of Purposeful Leadership: Rebuilding Institutions, Empowering Athletes, and Positioning Kwara for Sports Excellence.”

According to a statement signed by the Assistant Secretary of the Association, Sodiq Adebara, the theme underscores Governor AbdulRazaq’s transformative strides in sports development, infrastructural upgrades, and youth empowerment across the state since assuming office.

Veteran broadcaster and former General Manager of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Alhaji Hameed Adio, will serve as the guest speaker. He is expected to deliver a lecture highlighting the achievements of the present administration in sports and the prospects for sustained growth.

Chairman of Kwara SWAN, Mallam Ayodeji Ismail, who doubles as the host of the event, said the Personality Lecture is aimed at strengthening the bond between the media and major stakeholders driving sports development in the state.

Ismail noted that the association resolved to honour Governor AbdulRazaq in recognition of his “consistent investment in sports infrastructure, athlete welfare, and institutional reforms that have placed Kwara on a path to sustainable sporting excellence.”

As part of the end-of-year programme, the event will also feature special recognitions and interactions with sports stakeholders, further demonstrating the association’s commitment to celebrating individuals and institutions contributing significantly to sports growth in Kwara.

The programme is expected to draw top sports administrators, journalists, athletes, and senior government officials.
