PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH ON ZONING, GROUP CHIDES HON. AGF SALAHUDDEN’S THIRD TERM BID

A political group, the Ifelodun Progressives Movement, has asked Hon. AGF Salahudden to “practice what he preaches” on zoning and shelve his bid for a third term in the Kwara State House of Assembly. The group said Hon. Salahudden, who represented Omupo Constituency for two terms, is a direct beneficiary of the power rotation arrangement he now seeks to truncate.

In a statement on Sunday by the publicity Secretary of the group Mr Kazeem Adeniyi described the lawmaker’s third term agenda as self-serving and a betrayal of the equity that has kept Omupo Constituency peaceful. It argued that Hon. Salahudden’s nearly eight years in office were marked by poor representation and absence of constituency projects, adding that recycling him under the guise of experience would deny other districts their rightful turn under the zoning formula.

The Movement also condemned claims attributed to Hon. Salahudden that he got “directives from above” to pick the APC ticket. It called the statement a blatant falsehood meant to deceive party members and intimidate aspirants, stressing that no such directive exists from the APC leadership at the state or national level. “He should not hide behind lies to justify entitlement,” the group said.

Consequently, the Ifelodun Progressives Movement urged APC leaders, delegates, and voters in Omupo to reject the third term bid at the primaries. The group maintained that Omupo Constituency belongs to all districts and that respecting zoning is the only path to equity, unity, and development. “The era of imposition is over. Let Hon. Salahudden practice the zoning he once benefited from,” the statement concluded.
