Coalition Cites Equity, Loyalty, and Unity in Push for Zoning

A coalition of young people in Ekiti Local Government Area, Ekiti Youth Voices, has urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to zone the party’s 2027 Kwara State House of Assembly ticket for Ekiti Constituency to Osi Ward 2.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the group described the demand as a matter of equity, fairness, and political inclusion.
Call for Fairness and Rotational Politics
According to the coalition, the decision followed consultations across communities in Ekiti LGA. Members resolved that Osi Ward 2 deserves the opportunity to produce the next representative for the constituency in the 2027 general election.
The group argued that Osi Ward 2 has consistently demonstrated loyalty to the APC and has, over the years, sacrificed its political aspirations to sustain unity and peaceful coexistence in the constituency.
“Osi town has remained a strong political base, contributing significantly to electoral victories over successive election cycles,” the statement said.
“Despite its voting strength and contributions, the ward has repeatedly yielded elective opportunities to other communities to preserve harmony.”
The youth group called on APC leaders and stakeholders to uphold the principles of fairness and rotational politics in their zoning arrangements ahead of 2027.
Endorsement of Otunba Olusegun Olaiya Adewumi
Ekiti Youth Voices also endorsed Otunba Olusegun Olaiya Adewumi as its preferred aspirant for the Ekiti Constituency Assembly ticket.
The group described him as a community leader with a track record of service, commitment, and inclusive leadership.
It said the endorsement was based on three key considerations: equity, capacity, and unity.
“Osi Ward 2 possesses the human capital, political experience, and electoral strength required to deliver victory for the APC while strengthening unity across the constituency,” the coalition stated.
Mobilization Pledge
The group appealed to party stakeholders, traditional rulers, elders, and residents of Ekiti LGA to support the move, stressing that the campaign was not intended to create division but to promote fairness and reward loyalty.
It further pledged to mobilize youths across all wards in the local government to support the APC if the Assembly ticket is zoned to Osi Ward 2.
The statement was signed by Comrade Adebayo Tunde, Convener of Ekiti Youth Voices; Miss Grace Ojo, Secretary; and Hon. Kehinde Bello, Coordinator of the Osi Ward 2 Youth Forum.
