22nd NIPOGA Games Concludes with Host Team's Triumph.
The 22nd Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) came to a thrilling conclusion today, with the host team, Federal Polytechnic Offa, emerging victorious in the men's category. Federal Polytechnic Neekede secured second place, while Federal Polytechnic Auchi claimed third position.
In the female category, Yaba College of Technology took home the trophy. However, in a surprising twist, the Offa ladies team won second place after a nail-biting penalty shootout. The female category saw impressive performances, with Yaba Tech's Opeyemi Awori scoring the first goal and Dolapo scoring the second. Offa team's Olaleye Odunayo stole the show with six goals in, earning her the title of highest goal scorer in the competition.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Ataooja of Osogbo, The Representative of Olofa of Offa,The Osun State Speaker, Hon Mudashiru Alabi, Hon Ganiu Zubair (OGZ), member of the Federal Polytechnic Offa board, The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kamoru O. Kadiri.
Comrade Festus Oyewumi, NAPS president, praised the Federal Polytechnic Offa under Engr. Dr. Kadiri's leadership, saying, "The event was amazing, and the experience won't be forgotten." Hon Ganiu Zubair (OGZ) also commended the unity and sportsmanship displayed by participating students.
This year's NIPOGA games showcased the talents of students from various polytechnics across Nigeria, promoting peaceful coexistence and sporting excellence. With its biennial frequency, the NIPOGA games continue to be a significant event in Nigeria's educational calendar, nurturing sporting talents for national assignments.
