Popular Yoruba Radio Founder Oriyomi Hamzat Apologies to Naira Marley.
Oriyomi Hamzat, founder of Ibadan-based radio station Agidigbo 88.7 FM, has apologized to Naira Marley and lifted the ban on his songs, as well as those from Marlian Records, at the radio station.
The ban was initially put in place in September 2024, following allegations that Naira Marley was involved in the death of his former signee, Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.
Hamzat expressed regret for thinking the worst of Naira Marley and acknowledged that the ban didn't have any significant impact on the singer's career. He stated, "I am very sorry for all my provocative statements or words to Naira Marley... From today onward, I am raising the ban that was placed on the singer's tracks at Agidigbo FM" ².
The apology and lifting of the ban come after Naira Marley was cleared of any involvement in Mohbad's death ³. The development has sparked mixed reactions, with some listeners praising Hamzat for making peace, while others question the timing and sincerity of the apology.
