The wave of defections into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South continued on Wednesday with the second phase of the induction of Dr. Audu Musa Idowu's supporters into the ruling party.
The ceremony, which was specifically organised for Fulani communities across Kwara South, was held live in Omu-Aran, following the mega declaration that took place on Saturday at the Ekiti Local Government Area APC Secretariat.
The event drew hundreds of Fulani men and women, comprising long-time beneficiaries of Dr. Audu Musa's empowerment initiatives and newly aligned supporters from across the seven local government areas of the senatorial district.
Party leaders described the gathering as another significant indication of a major political shift in Kwara South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the crowd, the representative of Dr. Audu Musa Idowu, Chief Oloniniyi, expressed appreciation to the supporters for their continued trust in Dr. Audu's leadership and political direction.
He said the decision of the Fulani communities to align with the APC was a reflection of their confidence in Audu's capacity to promote inclusive politics and equitable development.
Chief Oloniniyi urged the supporters to remain united and to channel all efforts towards ensuring the victory of the APC in the 2027 polls.
He specifically called on them to work assiduously for the emergence of Prince Lekan Adewoye as Senator for Kwara South, Hon. Olasumbo Florence Oyeyemi as member of the Federal House of Representatives, and all other candidates of the party.
According to him, the task ahead requires collaboration across party structures, wards and camps to secure a comprehensive victory for the APC in the district.
He stressed that Dr. Audu's political movement is built on loyalty, grassroots mobilisation and a commitment to ensuring that every bloc within Kwara South feels a sense of belonging.
Responding in a joyous mood, the crowd chanted "Sai Audu" to reaffirm their loyalty to Dr. Audu Musa Idowu and their readiness to work for the APC.
Also speaking at the event, the APC party chairman, fondly called Ojopagogo, explained the rationale behind the current zoning arrangement adopted by the APC in Kwara South.
He noted that for 24 years, Irepodun Local Government Area had enjoyed the privilege of producing the member of the Federal House of Representatives for the Ekiti / Isin / Irepodun / Oke-Ero Federal Constituency.
According to him, in the spirit of fairness, equity and balance, stakeholders from Irepodun have now resolved to support the Ekiti bloc to produce the next House of Representatives member.
Similarly, he said, other blocs and communities that have had the opportunity to produce the Senator for Kwara South in the past have agreed to back Irepodun's candidate, Prince Lekan Adewoye, for the Senate in 2027, in order to balance the political equation.
He described the arrangement as a conscious effort by the APC to correct historical imbalances and promote rotational representation across the senatorial district.
The chairman assured the new Fulani entrants that they would be fully integrated into the party and given equal recognition and opportunities like other members.
He added that the APC under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq remains committed to an inclusive political structure where every community, including the Fulani, has a voice.
The induction ceremony, which ended with solidarity chants and reaffirmation of support for the APC, further consolidates the party's grassroots strength in Kwara South as the build-up to the 2027 general elections gathers momentum.
