Kwara for Kwarans Initiative Partners with RUWASSA to Promote Sanitation and Hygienic Communities.

In a bid to promote sanitation and hygiene in Kwara State, the Kwara for Kwarans Initiative has partnered with the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) to support the agency's efforts in providing safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene to rural communities.

On October 30th, 2025, the Kwara for Kwarans Initiative, led by Convener Amb Anjorin Babatunde and Secretary Amb Shola Ilyas Akanbi, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Olorunfemi A. Oladipo, General Manager of RUWASSA, to formalize the partnership. During the visit, the Convener expressed the Initiative's willingness to support RUWASSA in its efforts to combat open defecation and increase the number of open defecation-free LGAs from one (Oke-Ero) to ten LGA'S by 2026.

"We are excited to partner with RUWASSA in promoting sanitation and hygiene in Kwara State," said Amb Anjorin Babatunde. "Our organization is committed to supporting the agency's efforts in providing safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene to rural communities. We believe that this partnership will go a long way in improving the health and well-being of our people."

The Secretary, Amb Shola Ilyas Akanbi, expressed appreciation to the agency and the Kwara State Governor, H.E Mall Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, for working towards the development of Kwara State, regardless of differences. "We are grateful to the Governor for his vision to develop Kwara State and for supporting initiatives that promote the welfare of our people," he said. "We are also grateful to RUWASSA for their tireless efforts in promoting sanitation and hygiene in our state."

The General Manager of RUWASSA, Mr. Olorunfemi A. Oladipo, welcomed the partnership and expressed his agency's commitment to working with the Kwara for Kwarans Initiative to promote sanitation and hygiene in Kwara State. "We are excited to partner with the Kwara for Kwarans Initiative in promoting sanitation and hygiene in our state," he said. "This partnership will enable us to reach more communities and promote the adoption of proper sanitation and hygiene practices."

The partnership between the Kwara for Kwarans Initiative and RUWASSA is expected to yield significant results in the promotion of sanitation and hygiene in Kwara State. The initiative plans to support RUWASSA in its efforts to provide safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene to rural communities, as well as promote community management of water systems.

The Kwara for Kwarans Initiative is a non-profit organization that aims to promote the welfare of Kwarans through various initiatives, including healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.
