A violent clash between cult groups at Kwara State Polytechnic has resulted in the death of a student, with five others arrested by the police.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased student was stabbed in the heart by fellow cult members. The prompt response of the Nigeria Police Force's anti-cultism unit has helped to ease tensions around the school area.
The police have confirmed that the remains of the deceased student have been recovered and deposited at a hospital in Ilorin. The five arrested suspects are currently being held at the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Police Force, Anti-Cultism Unit.
The students of Kwara State Polytechnic have expressed their appreciation for the swift action taken by the police to address the situation.
This incident is not an isolated one, as Kwara Polytechnic has witnessed similar cult-related violence in the past, including a 2015 clash that left 16 people dead ¹ ².
