Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State was thrown into panic today as bandits launched a second attack on the community. However, local hunters and vigilantes put up a brave fight, repelling the attackers and preventing any loss of life.
According to sources, the bandits, who came in large numbers, stormed the community earlier today but were met with fierce resistance from local vigilantes and active youths. The community had sent a Save Our Souls (SoS) message to the state government, which promptly directed soldiers in nearby Eruku to reinforce the community.
The Treasurer of Isapa Peoples Union (IPU), Abayomi Daramola, confirmed the attack, saying, "My people called me this evening to inform me of the bandits' attack on our community, but thank God they weren't able to abduct anyone. Our local vigilantes were up to the task as they engaged them in gunshots".
This is not the first time Isapa community has been attacked by bandits and repelled. In November 2025, Same happened.
The community has been living in fear of repeated attacks, with residents urging the government to take concrete steps to address the security situation.
The Kwara State Government has been working to address the security challenges in the state, with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq vowing to rout the invaders and ensure peace is restored. The state government has also begun training forest guards to support security efforts.
The latest attack on Isapa community underscores the need for sustained efforts to address the security situation in Kwara State and ensure the safety of residents.
