Ilorin’s music scene got a dose of excitement yesterday evening as the Veritas News Hub team hung out with fast-rising act, Guccibird Allah, in an exclusive chat that ran late into the night.
The artiste, known for his genre-bending sound and street-rooted lyricism, received the Veritas News crew at his Ilorin base and opened up on his career, his process, and his much-anticipated project titled Orire
“I Put Energy Into Every Track, But ‘Afro Reggae’ Hits Different”
Speaking with Veritas News interviewer Anjorin Babatunde, Guccibird Allah confirmed that his debut EP, Orire, is completed and will be released “very soon.” The project, he said, is a personal journey — a blend of prayer, pain, and perseverance.
When asked about his best track on the EP, the artiste was reflective. “I put so much energy in the EP. Every song carried a piece of me. But if I must pick, the first track on it, titled Afro Reggae, is the most sought after,” Guccibird Allah revealed.
According to him, Afro Reggae has already become a fan favorite even before official release, with snippets circulating among DJs and core listeners in Kwara and Lagos. “People keep asking me for that one. The vibe, the message, the bounce — it connects. It’s me telling my story on a reggae-infused Afrobeats template. That’s the Guccibird sound,” he said.
*‘Orire’ — A Project of Blessings and Battles*
The title Orire, a Yoruba word meaning “good fortune” or “blessings,” is deliberate. Guccibird Allah told Veritas News that the EP chronicles his transition from underground hopeful to an artiste ready for the mainstream.
“This project is my testimony. I’ve seen days when we recorded with borrowed data and no studio time. Today we’re talking rollout, visuals, playlisting. Orire is not just a title. It’s a prayer that has answered,” he said, smiling.
While he kept the full tracklist close to his chest, he hinted that Orire is a 5-track body of work with production from both Ilorin-based beatmakers and a Lagos name he “respects deeply.” The sound, he insisted, stays true to his roots: street-conscious, melodious, and spiritual.
Why the Delay? “We Want It Right
Fans have been asking why Orire has taken time. Guccibird Allah was candid. “We don’t want to drop and disappear. We’re clearing samples, shooting content, and aligning with the right distribution. When it lands, it must compete. Kwara to the world is not a slogan for us — it’s work.”
He confirmed that a release date and pre-save link will be announced within weeks, with Afro Reggae likely to lead as the focus single. A video for the track is also in post-production.
The hangout ended with freestyle snippets, laughter, and a shared resolve: Kwara’s creative economy is rising. From skit makers to musicians, a new generation is choosing to build from home before blowing outside.
For Guccibird Allah, Orire is more than music. “It’s for every Kwara youth grinding with no backup. If I can do it, you can. That’s the message.”
With Afro Reggae already tipped as a street anthem and Orire weeks away, Veritas News Hub will be tracking the rollout.
As Guccibird Allah put it before we left: “Tell them Guccibird no dey joke. Orire soon drop. Make una get ready.”
