It was a remarkable day for the people of Kwara State, especially Ilorin Central Constituency, as Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji Abdulkadir - BOMA empowered 600 constituents in the 4th Phase Mega Empowerment Programme.
The initiative is designed to uplift lives and strengthen the economic base in Ilorin Central Constituency and beyond. Beneficiaries were carefully selected from the five wards that make up the constituency.
For sustainability, participants underwent training in their respective trade and business skills prior to the distribution. Items distributed included freezers, sewing machines, grinding machines, stoning machines, washing machines, vulcanising machines, popcorn machines, hair dryer washing basins, and other tools. Beneficiaries also received cash grants.
Speaking at the event held on Saturday, 13th June 2026 at Baptist School, Surulere, Ilorin, the Deputy Speaker and Deputy Chief Whip of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ojo Olayiwola and Hon. Mariam Aladi, described the achievements as unprecedented for a state lawmaker compared to past administrations.
“This is huge and something we haven’t seen before. Ilorin Central is blessed to have Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji Abdulkadir - BOMA as its representative. He works round the clock to ensure his people get their needs met. This is another testimony of his commitment. I pray others emulate him. As a first-term lawmaker, his massive and consistent empowerment within 3 years in office is inspiring. This is the 4th Mega Empowerment, and it aligns with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s vision to uplift Kwarans and strengthen the state’s economic growth.
We congratulate him and pray he continues to do more for his people. We also congratulate the people of his constituency for having the right representative. I urge you all to give more support and vote massively for APC in January 2027, to enable him do more for you and Kwara at large,” he said.
Hon. Oba Magaji, representing APC Ilorin Central at the KWHA, distributed empowerment tools and cash grants to his constituents.
He said the empowerment was meant to make the beneficiaries - who included market women, artisans, trade associations and party members - become self-reliant.
“Just 6 months ago, we gathered and some people were empowered after training in their respective trade businesses. 84% of those beneficiaries are doing well today, and we are here again to give back to our people. Today’s programme is symbolic of what we intend to do with most of the people we have trained. We put them through a series of programmes and training. They are fully trained with advanced training for their respective trade enhancement, and they will now receive their working tools,” he said.
Beneficiaries appreciated the host and promised to use the items for their intended purpose. They specifically commended the training and advice from various speakers on the need to make judicious use of the training and items.
Ilorin West LGA APC Chairman, Hon. Sulaiman Tejidini, described Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji Abdulkadir as the big heart of the party at the grassroots - a deep-rooted politician who sits, listens, and acts on his people’s needs. “He is the lord of empowerment and a legislator I am proud of. Even colleagues from other LGAs envy having him as their representative. As his chairman, I am blessed to have him and I am proud of him always,” he said.
Alagua Oko Erin, who spoke on behalf of all traditional leaders present, lauded Oba Magaji’s welfare and human capital development inputs to their communities. He prayed for him to continue to prosper in good health and with long life.
Hon. Femi Yusuf, Chairman of Ifelodun LGA, also joined other speakers to laud Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji Abdulkadir for his consistent commitment to grassroots empowerment. “What BOMA is doing in Ilorin Central is worthy of emulation. In just 3 years, he has set a standard that challenges all of us in public office. This is leadership with action, not just promises. I urge our people across Kwara to continue supporting APC, so that leaders like him can do more for our communities,” he said.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji Abdulkadir expressed deep appreciation to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, party leaders, traditional rulers, and all stakeholders for their support. He thanked the beneficiaries for their commitment and urged them to make judicious use of the tools and grants to transform their lives and contribute to the economic growth of Ilorin Central Constituency and Kwara State at large.
