The House Leader of the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly and Member representing Ilorin Central Constituency, Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji AbdulKadir - BOMA, has marked the third anniversary of the Assembly with a reflection on his legislative contributions, people-oriented programmes, and commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.
The lawmaker described the three-year journey as a period of service, responsibility, and purposeful representation, noting that effective leadership must go beyond legislative duties to include initiatives that directly improve the welfare and opportunities of the people.
Since assuming office, Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji AbdulKadir has combined his legislative responsibilities with various constituency interventions aimed at healthcare support, social welfare, education, infrastructure development, skills acquisition, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
As the Leader of the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly, BOMA has played an active role in supporting legislative processes, contributing to debates, motions, and activities aimed at strengthening governance and promoting development in the state.
Beyond the Assembly, his grassroots interventions have continued to impact residents of Ilorin Central Constituency.
Through the Barr. Oba Magaji AbdulKadir Medical Outreach Programme, weekly medical outreaches have been taken to different communities, providing healthcare support and improving access to basic medical services.
His Cash Support Scheme for Widows and Aged People provides regular financial assistance to vulnerable members of society, while the Special Friday Social Welfare Scheme offers timely support to people facing immediate challenges.
In the area of human capital development, the Barr. Oba Magaji AbdulKadir Skill and Vocational Empowerment Scheme has provided opportunities for constituents to acquire various skills through professional trainers, alongside support to enable beneficiaries to establish themselves and become self-reliant.
Educational Support and Human Capital Development
Education has remained one of the cardinal pillars of Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji AbdulKadir's representation. Through the Barr. Oba Magaji AbdulKadir Educational Support Scheme, hundreds of students across Ilorin Central Constituency have benefited from various forms of educational assistance aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and promoting academic excellence.
The initiative provides support to students from Primary School level to Master's Degree level, including the payment of school fees, sponsorship of external examination registrations such as WAEC, NECO, and JAMB, as well as the distribution of educational materials and learning aids to deserving students.
Beyond individual student support, the lawmaker has also demonstrated commitment to improving educational infrastructure through the facilitation of the establishment and construction of Magaji Ngari LGEA Primary School, including the construction of classroom blocks to provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
These interventions have expanded access to quality education, encouraged academic advancement, supported less-privileged families, and reaffirmed the belief that investing in education remains one of the most sustainable pathways to community development and societal progress.
Infrastructure Development and Community Projects
As part of efforts to improve security and support economic activities, Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji AbdulKadir has facilitated and executed the installation of solar-powered street lights across various communities within the 52 geopolitical zones of Ilorin Central Constituency. The initiative has enhanced public safety, improved visibility at night, and encouraged commercial activities within local communities.
In addressing the challenge of access to potable water, the lawmaker facilitated the installation of at least two electric motorised boreholes in each of the five wards that make up Ilorin Central Constituency, alongside the repair/fix of various faulty boreholes to restore access to clean water.
To further improve community infrastructure, he facilitated the repair/fix of various faulty premises, including community centres and public facilities, to provide conducive environments for meetings, learning, and social services.
These interventions were designed to reduce the burden on residents, improve access to basic amenities, and promote better hygiene, safety, and healthier living conditions across Ilorin Central Constituency.
Additionally, he facilitated the provision of solar street light projects through the Federal Government, ensuring the installation of street lights on major roads and streets across the five wards of the constituency, further expanding access to sustainable public infrastructure.
Recognising the importance of youth inclusion and economic empowerment, Hon. Barr. Oba Magaji AbdulKadir has created employment opportunities for young people through direct engagement and facilitation.
Currently, more than 30 legislative and constituency aides receive monthly remuneration under his office, providing meaningful opportunities for youth participation in governance and public service.
Beyond this, the lawmaker has facilitated employment opportunities for constituents at the local, state, and federal levels, helping qualified individuals secure positions in both public and private institutions.
BOMA Mega Empowerment Programme
A major highlight of his representation is the BOMA Mega Empowerment Programme, which has empowered over 3,000 constituents through four editions.
The first edition empowered 400 beneficiaries, the second empowered 500 beneficiaries, while the third edition reached 1,000 constituents.
Within six months of the third edition, the fourth edition was successfully organised on Saturday, 13th June 2026 at Baptist School, Surulere, Ilorin, during which 600 constituents received tools and cash grants to support various businesses, vocational trades, and entrepreneurial ventures.
The programme has become one of the most impactful empowerment initiatives within the constituency, helping beneficiaries improve their livelihoods and become economically independent.
Speaking on his relationship with constituents, BOMA reaffirmed his commitment to accessibility and responsive leadership.
He noted that every Friday, he personally receives constituents at his constituency office to listen to their concerns, needs, and challenges, while working collaboratively to identify practical and lasting solutions.
According to him, this open-door policy has strengthened the bond between the people and their representative, ensuring that governance remains participatory, inclusive, and people-centred.
The lawmaker expressed appreciation to the people of Ilorin Central Constituency for their continued trust, support, and prayers over the last three years.
He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining impactful representation, quality legislation, and programmes that improve the welfare and prosperity of the people.
