PETER OBI BLAMES TINUBU ADMINISTRATION FOR RISING HUNGER, INSECURITY

Abuja, Nigeria Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that hunger, poverty, and insecurity have worsened since the government took office.

Obi made the remarks while reacting to recent comments by President Tinubu following a meeting with the Catholic Bishops. He argued that many Nigerians are facing severe economic hardship due to rising food prices, inflation, and continued security challenges across parts of the country.

According to Obi, the current situation requires urgent action and policies that directly improve the lives of citizens rather than political rhetoric.

The Presidency, however, has defended its economic reforms, maintaining that measures such as the removal of fuel subsidies and exchange rate reforms were necessary to stabilize Nigeria's economy. Government officials insist that while the reforms are difficult, they are expected to deliver long-term economic benefits.

The exchange has added to the ongoing debate over the country's economic direction as Nigerians continue to grapple with the rising cost of living and security concerns.
