Daramola Urges Oyebanji to Prioritise Youth in Next Political Appointments

The APC South-West Youth Leader, Barrister Adesuyi Daramola, has called on the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, to give greater consideration to competent and qualified young people as he prepares to constitute his next set of political appointees.

Daramola made the appeal through his Media and Publicity Director, Remilekun Enitan Oyelowo, following the governor’s recent approval for the dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals across the state, as well as the termination of the appointments of political appointees ahead of the inauguration of his second term.

According to Daramola, the transition provides an opportunity for the administration to deepen youth inclusion in governance by creating meaningful opportunities for capable young Ekiti indigenes to contribute their skills, ideas and expertise to the development of the state.

He stressed that young people should not be viewed solely as future leaders, noting that many youths already possess the experience, knowledge and capacity required to make meaningful contributions to public administration.

“We respectfully appeal to His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to remember the youths of Ekiti State as he constitutes his next team of political appointees. Our young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow; many are already capable contributors to governance today,” Daramola said.

He added that appointing qualified young people would not only provide them with opportunities to serve but could also strengthen their confidence in government and deepen their sense of belonging in the state’s political and governance processes.

“Providing competent young people with opportunities to serve will inspire our youths, strengthen their confidence in government and demonstrate that the administration values their energy, ideas, expertise and commitment to the development of Ekiti State,” he said.

Daramola also acknowledged the contributions of political appointees whose appointments have now come to an end, appreciating their service and the roles they played in the administration during their respective periods in office.

He said the commencement of a new phase of the administration should provide room for fresh perspectives while also preserving the experience and institutional knowledge necessary for effective governance.

The APC South-West Youth Leader further encouraged young people across Ekiti State to continue investing in their education, skills, knowledge and leadership capacity, saying preparedness would position them to take advantage of opportunities to serve whenever they arise.

He noted that increased youth participation in governance could also help strengthen the relationship between the government and the younger generation while giving youths a greater stake in the development of the state.

Daramola’s appeal comes as the Oyebanji administration prepares for its second term, with attention expected to turn to the composition of the next set of political appointees and the direction of governance in the new phase.

The statement was signed by Remilekun Enitan Oyelowo, Media and Publicity Director to the Office of the APC South-West Youth Leader.
