DON’T VOTE FOR CANDIDATES YOU CANNOT ACCESS – PRO-KWARA GROUP WARNS KWARANS

A frontline pro-Kwara socio-political organization has again cautioned Kwarans against voting for candidates who are inaccessible to the people, insisting that politics is local and only an accessible leader can feel the pains of his people.

Kwara for Kwarans made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ilorin, while reacting to the rising cases of banditry and kidnapping across Kwara South Senatorial District.

According to the organization, the current security situation is a practical example of failed representation. The group questioned how many times the Senator representing Kwara South, Senator Lola Ashiru, has physically visited the affected communities, addressed the victims via the media, or even attended to them at his Senatorial office since the surge in insecurity began.

“It is alarming that a serving Senator who is now chasing the Kwara gubernatorial seat completely ghosted his own Senatorial District when his people needed him the most. It is not that the people are asking for too much, they simply want him to fulfill his primary duty of overseeing the welfare and security of his constituents,” the statement read.

The group noted that at a time when farmers can no longer go to their farms and residents live in fear of kidnappers, the silence and absence of their Senator speaks volumes about his kind of leadership.

The organization, however, commended the Member representing Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Irepodun/Isin Federal Constituency, Hon. Tunji Ajulo-Opin, for living up to expectation.

The group thanked Hon. Ajulo-Opin for lending his voice at the National Assembly on the security challenges facing his constituency and for extending humanitarian support to affected victims.

“Feedbacks from the victims show that Hon. Ajulo-Opin reached out to them with words of courage, financial support and food items. That is what representation means — being present when it matters,” the group added.

The Pro-Kwara group therefore urged electorates across Kwara State to scrutinize candidates ahead of 2027 and only support leaders who are reachable, responsive, and present in times of crisis.

“Someone you cannot reach, cannot feel your pain. Don’t vote for a ghost representative,” the group warned.
