The Federal Government is set to empower 200 youths in Oyo State with vocational and digital skills, as well as start-up tools to help them establish or expand businesses.

The initiative is being implemented under the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE).

The Oyo phase of the programme is scheduled to run from September 28 to October 9, 2026, with beneficiaries receiving training in three areas: Graphics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Makeup, and Fashion Designing.

Beyond the training, participants will receive equipment related to their chosen areas of skill. Those undergoing Graphics/AI training will receive laptops, while Makeup trainees will receive fully equipped makeup kits.

Participants in Fashion Designing will receive sewing machines and starter kits to support them as they move from training into establishing or expanding their businesses.

The programme is expected to culminate in a graduation and grand finale on October 9. As part of the wider digital empowerment component, 500 tablets are also expected to be distributed to young Nigerians during the event.

The Federal Government said the initiative will subsequently be replicated across the six geopolitical zones to expand access to practical skills, productive tools and sustainable livelihood opportunities for more young Nigerians.

The programme is part of the government's NPRGS intervention in skills development and entrepreneurship, with the stated aim of helping young people acquire practical skills and the resources needed to put those skills into economic use.
