MAIDUGURI, BORNO STATE — September 7, 2026
The Borno State chapter of the Tinubu/Kashim Re-election Action Group, TRAG, has reaffirmed its loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and pledged to work closely with party structures to strengthen mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by the Borno State Coordinator, Hon. Usman Mahdi Badairi, and made available to Veritas News Hub, TRAG said its mandate is to promote unity, political awareness, and grassroots engagement in support of the APC-led administration.
Hon. Badairi stated that TRAG’s commitment to the APC remains “firm and resolute” across all levels — from national leadership down to ward and grassroots units.
“I, Hon. Usman Mahdi Badairi, Borno State Coordinator of the Tinubu/Kashim Re-election Action Group, wish to express my unwavering support and loyalty to our great party, the All Progressives Congress,” the statement read.
He noted that as a movement, the TRAG Borno State Special Campaign Centre was established to complement, not compete with, the official party structure.
“As a movement, TRAG Borno State Special Campaign Centre is committed to working hand in hand with the party structure and its leadership in promoting unity, mobilization, awareness, and effective grassroots engagement,” he said.
The coordinator emphasized that the strength of any political party lies in the cooperation of its members.
“We believe that the strength of our party lies in the unity, dedication, and cooperation of its members at every level. Therefore, TRAG Borno State will continue to respect and support the legitimate party structures while contributing positively to the mobilization and strengthening of our great party,” Hon. Badairi added.
With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, TRAG Borno said it is already laying the groundwork for sustained voter education and mobilization across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
The group outlined its core objectives to include: door-to-door sensitization, town hall engagements, youth and women empowerment dialogues, and collaboration with community and religious leaders to deepen support for the APC.
According to Hon. Badairi, the group’s activities will be guided by the principles of peace, development, and responsible political conduct.
“We remain committed to the principles of loyalty, teamwork, peace, development, and responsible political engagement as we work toward the Tinubu/Kashim 2027 re-election agenda,” he stated.
Political observers note that Borno State remains a stronghold of the APC. With ongoing reconstruction and stabilization efforts in the state, support groups like TRAG are expected to play a key role in communicating government policies and achievements to the electorate at the grassroots.
The Tinubu/Kashim Re-election Action Group was formed by party stakeholders and supporters to consolidate support for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ticket ahead of 2027.
Across states, TRAG centers are expected to function as campaign support hubs that align with the party’s manifesto while driving voter registration, civic education, and turnout.
In Borno, the Special Campaign Centre under Hon. Badairi says it will prioritize internal party cohesion to avoid division and ensure that mobilization efforts are coordinated with APC executives at state, LGA, and ward levels.
“We are not a parallel structure. We are a support structure,” a TRAG official in Maiduguri told Veritas News Hub. “Our job is to amplify the party’s message and ensure that the achievements of the administration get to the last man in the village.”
Hon. Badairi also used the statement to call on members and supporters to shun politics of bitterness and focus on issue-based engagement.
He urged youths in the state to avoid political thuggery and instead position themselves as ambassadors of development by participating in skills programs and governance processes.
The coordinator concluded the statement with a call for continued prayers and support for the party and the country.
“Long live the APC.
Long live TRAG.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The declaration comes at a time when political groups across Nigeria are beginning early alignments ahead of 2027.
For the APC in Borno, the activation of TRAG’s Special Campaign Centre signals an early push to consolidate its base, particularly in rural communities where voter turnout will be critical.
With Borno Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, also providing leadership at the state level, analysts say synergy between government, party structures, and support groups like TRAG will determine how effectively the party retains support in the Northeast.
Veritas News Hub will continue to monitor political mobilization activities and party developments across Borno State and the Northeast region.
